Time for lunch and I was able to get a parking space close to Hatch. We ordered at the counter and took a seat in the back where sandwiches were delivered about 15 minutes later. Made to order and they were busy, so this is an appropriate time. They have a cooler with beers and canned/bottled sodas. There is also a self-service soda fountain in the back. It's a nice dining area with different options for seating including a large communal table, some high tops and low tops. There might be a wifi. Restrooms were clean. Sandwiches arrived and they were great. I had chose the "Club" which was ham, turkey and bacon with appropriate fixings. Delicious, slightly messy, very yummy. My wife had the "Thanksgiving Turkey" with cranberry and thick sliced tomato. Also excellent. Great lunch, nice little place. I'm glad we found it!
We came up to the Farmer’s Market in Hickory on Saturday & my husband began googling a spot to eat. We found Hatch by chance. I had the pulled pork (they put the sauce on the side) and I also chose Mac & cheese and cauliflower for my sides. Perfect! My husband had a gooey, broccoli & cheese sandwich. Great service with a smile from the lady up at the register. Oh and if you are looking for a drink to go with your eats…they have a big selection. (Look at my photos) Please note: Not a traditional restaurant with tables and chairs….the indoor seating is almost bar-like, you can dine seated facing window, facing out. But works for me! My husband wanted to eat outside. Glad we were able to find a table in their sidewalk patio. They have umbrellas etc set up to shelter from the sun. Check them out the next time you are in Hickory. Cozy little sandwich shop with great variety and fresh ingredients. Tried the turkey avocado, thanksgiving, Reuben and turkey melt. All were great. Prices were reasonable. The Brussel sprouts were a great side. Lots of choices for beer and sodas. They offer takeout and no one waited more than 5 minutes while we were there. Place sits at one end of a quaint downtown street. Worth the stop.
Hatch was INCREDIBLE. Before we orders 4 employees spoke to us and welcomed us even as they were closing. They prepared fresh food and it was DELICIOUS. The prices are affordable. I was in town working. We are from Raleigh. I will definitely be back during my next stay in Hickory. This was the best service I have received post pandemic! A+!!!
Great sandwiches and sides. Friendly efficient staff. Cold beers and canned drinks in fridge in to fountain drinks. Outdoor seating. Our “lunch stop” on the way to the mountains has become a tradition and also allows us to enjoy this nice, walkable, cozy part of Hickory!
Must try sandwich shop. Chalkboard menus mean they know what they are doing with awesome specials and great prices. We were passing through and so happy we stopped. Staff and other Customers were all super friendly. Don't pass on this place
I’ve eaten at Hatch many times and been a big fan over the years. Today I popped in with a friend and had the best meal I’ve had in the area. It was a summer goddess salad, I subbed tuna steak. The peach vin was herby and tangy and had some bite, the tuna was perfect the peaches were perfect. I needed that. It takes a lot of intention to stay with it the way Hatch does. Thanks for another great meal.
My love and I enjoyed delicious banh mi with pork. We had sweet potato fries and maple syrup brussel sprouts on the side. Everything was wonderful. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Great food that you can tell is handmade with fresh, very flavorful ingredients. Huge portions. I got the pulled pork grilled cheese (substituted chicken) and a side of mac n cheese to go. Could only eat half the sandwich and some of the macaroni; definitely going to have some good leftovers.
What a great place!These are people who understand great food, great service and are creative. I had a delicious Pacific Bowl shown in the photo along with the menu description. Even more was the delectable was the watermelon side dish with chèvre and oil - outstanding!! The interior restaurant has fun decor and style and is set up very well with a few nice tables on the sidewalk. The staff is friendly and upbeat and the whole atmosphere was really enjoyable. I especially loved all of the interesting cookbooks displayed on shelves - lots of them, from all over the world. Thank you for a lovely experience! /Ali & Jesse
